GMeet Scheduler for Thunderbird ("the Extension") is a free, open-source Mozilla Thunderbird add-on that helps you schedule Google Meet meetings directly from your email. This Privacy Policy explains what data the Extension accesses, how it is used, and what is never collected.

1. Data the Extension accesses

The Extension accesses the following data solely to provide its core functionality:

• Email metadata — the subject line, sender, recipients (To/CC), and body text (up to 500 characters) of the email you right-click. This is used to pre-fill the meeting title, attendee list, and description in the scheduling form.
• Thunderbird address book — queried locally when you type a name in the Guests field, to suggest matching contacts via autocomplete.
• Google Calendar — when you click "Send Invites," the Extension calls the Google Calendar API to create a calendar event with a Google Meet link and send invitations to your guests.
• Google account identity — your Google account email is read from Thunderbird's account list to exclude you from the attendee list when pre-populating guests.

2. Data storage

The Extension stores the following data locally on your device only, using Thunderbird's built-in extension storage (messenger.storage.local):

• Your Google OAuth access token and refresh token — used to authenticate API requests to Google Calendar on your behalf.

No data is ever transmitted to any server operated by this Extension's developer. There are no analytics, crash reporters, or telemetry of any kind.

3. Google API usage

The Extension communicates directly with Google's APIs:

• Google OAuth 2.0 (accounts.google.com) — to authenticate you and obtain permission to manage your calendar events.
• Google Calendar API (googleapis.com/calendar) — to create calendar events and generate Google Meet links.

Your use of these services is governed by Google's Privacy Policy. The Extension requests only the calendar.events scope, which grants permission to create and manage calendar events. It does not request access to read existing events, contacts, Gmail, or any other Google service.

4. Data sharing

The Extension does not sell, share, or transmit your data to any third party, except as required to call Google's APIs as described above.

5. Data retention

OAuth tokens are stored locally until you uninstall the Extension or manually clear Thunderbird's extension storage. No data is retained on any external server.

6. Open source

The Extension is fully open source. You can review the complete source code at github.com/cancodr/google-meet-for-thunderbird to verify these privacy claims independently.

7. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a revised "Last updated" date.
